For gynecological problems that require surgery, Suncoast OB/GYN offers robotic surgical options for our patients.
Robotic Surgery — How does it work?
Using a surgical robot, surgeons operate through a few small incisions using instruments that were built for precision. This system has a magnified 3D HD camera and wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand, allowing for better dexterity for your surgeon. The robot is simply a tool that your surgeon and surgical team are trained to use in the operating room.
The surgical system gives your surgeon an incredibly clear view of your anatomy, allowing them to perform a procedure that's less invasive to your body, typically resulting in less pain, less blood loss, and possibly shorter recovery times. The surgical robot does not perform the surgery on its own. Rather, it's a tool that allows your surgeon's skillset to provide even better patient outcomes.
The benefits of minimally-invasive robotic-assisted surgery may include:
- Less pain
- Less blood loss
- Less scarring
- Shorter hospital stay
BEST OF ALL?It means a faster return to everyday living.
